Peek At The Week

Thanks for sending in all of the awesome family trees! They did a great job and we had fun learning and looking at the trees and answering questions.

Here are some of the things we have been working on:

In Math:
·  Used tens and ones to solve 2 digit addition problems
·   Used a break apart strategy and keeping the number whole
·        Used compensation to solve problems to get to the next ten
·        Learned a new game called Close to 20
·        Practiced ST Math and Reflex Math

In Fundations and Reading:
·        Learned about the 3 sounds of the suffix -ed
·        Discussed the words checked and swelled for vocabulary
·        Practiced skill sheets
·        Practiced categories of words for -ed with id, d, t sounds
·        Took our Unit 4 test

·        My reading group read A Halloween Rhyme- we practiced marking nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and we wrote our own poems too.

In Science:
·        Read Maple Trees, sang a Maple Tree song and answered diagram questions
·        Watched a short video about trees
·        Read books called Are Trees Alive?, Fletcher and the Falling Leaves, and Tess's Tree
·        Learned the inner parts of the tree and their definitions by making a tree booklet
·        Learned about our families and did a museum walk with questions

In Writing:
·        We typed our personal narratives on the iPads for our final copies
·        Learned about homophones
Enjoy the weekend! Crazy Hat Day on Halloween and an important study guide for the tree test next Friday went home today! Please help your child study.
