A Wonderful Memorial Day Assembly! :)

Thank you for the great attendance to support your children today! They did a wonderful job and I can't wait to see them perform as famous americans next Friday too! :)

Peek At The Week

We had a great week of learning together!

Here are some of the things we did:

In Math:
  • Compared inches, feet, and yards
  • Compared centimeters and meters
  • Looked at different units
  • Practiced adding and subtracting around a shape (perimeter)
In Fundations:
  • Practiced au, aw words
  • Learned about the words launch and dawn
  • Practiced trick words
  • Took our Unit 16 test
In Reading:
  • Read Aesop's Fables
  • Discussed how the morals apply to our own lives and what the morals teach us
In Science:
  • Started our unit on insects
  • Learned the special characteristics
  • Watched an All About Bugs video
  • Read about bugs and built our own bug
  • Read about butterflies, watched a Brain Pop Jr. video
  • Learned about the 4 stages of the complete metamorphosis: egg, larva, pupa, adult
  • With our 5th grade buddies we did a scavenger hunt and answered questions about butterflies and moths
In Writing/Social Studies:
  • Talked about our assigned famous americans
  • Started reading and recording facts for our scripts for the presentation on June 3rd
  • Ask your child who they are going to dress up as
Reminders:
  • Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary field trip form and payment due June 1st
  • Famous American Tea form due May 23rd

The 5th Graders Won the Annual Volleyball Game!

The Terrific Teachers tried their best, but we were defeated by the 5th grade Dare Devils. They played really well and helped each other in all 3 games! Great job! :)

Peek At The Week

We had a busy busy week! Your children are very hard workers! 

Here are some of the things we did this week!

In Math:
  • Completed Topic 14 on adding and subtracting money
  • Began Topic 15 on measurement
  • Measured items in our classroom using different units such as paper clips, inches, and centimeters
  • Played a measurement game
  • Read Measuring Penny

Looking for 1 cm, 10 cm, and 100 cm items to measure!




Here's our star reader too!


In Writing/Social Studies:
  • Finished researching for India
  • Worked in groups to complete our travel brochure on India


  • Learned about paragraph writing for our homework change next week- We completed two samples, which will go home on Monday
We made a sweet Mother's Day poem, with a card and coupons for all the moms! Happy Mother's Day!

Also, a special notice went home about The Famous American Tea. It is so much fun! Look for the white paper that looks like this:
