We had quite a
week of celebrating after our crazy blizzard! We celebrated Abe Lincoln’s
birthday, the 100th day of school, and Valentine’s Day!
In Math, the
students compared centimeters to inches. They measured using centimeters in a
metric booklet. We also learned about timelines. We made a timeline of our
school day and then added personal details for before and after school. We have
completed Unit 9 on measurement and we will start learning about data
collecting and graphing after vacation.
In Social Studies,
we read our land and water riddles and played a game of landform memory to
practice our definitions with a partner before the quiz.
We also learned
about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. We learned a lot about each
president and compared them using a Venn diagram. We took our land and water
quiz and the students did very well! We also presented our special landform
reports to the class.
We made super cute
Valentine’s Day bags to hold all of the valentines from classmates. They were
so creative! We had a lot of fun! It was a great day!

We also saw some
great 4th grade inventions at the “Invention Convention”. Some of
the second grade students were already thinking of things they could make in the future.
Yesterday, I sent home a
permission slip for the field trip we have coming up on March 1st.
Please send in the slip and money by Monday, Feb. 25th.
I apologize for the
short notice.
Also, the Memorial
Wine Tasting Fundraiser is coming up and we have a “Snack Attack” basket for
our class. If you could send in a snack item that would be great! I sent home a
bright flyer in the backpack folder regarding ideas for snacks.
I hope you all
have a great week off with your family!
