Another fast week
of learning! I have been feeling a little under the weather and I know a lot of my
students are too. I was glad to have this weekend to recover a little bit.
In Math, we played
Collect 50 cents where the students need to trade coins and be the first one to
collect 50 cents on the nose. They play with a partner. We also discussed even
and odd numbers and counted the number of legs and fingers in our classroom.
They solved problems by counting by 2s, 5s, or 10s also.

In Writing, we
reviewed leader/follower sentences so everyone would know what to write for homework.
I think they are getting the hang of it!
In Social Studies,
we watched a Brain Pop Jr. video on maps and created a “Where I Live” booklet.
We also went over 7-5-4-2. We learned about 7 continents, 5 oceans, 4
hemispheres and 2 poles. We colored a world map with all the continents and
oceans.
In Science, we
have a special bear exhibit from the science center visiting our school. We
went to see it on Thursday and worked with a partner to answer questions about
different bears. It was fun!

On Friday, we had
a great time watching “Martha Speaks” at the Chelmsford Performing Arts Center.

Many of the kids were
feeling sick on Friday, so I hope they are feeling a little better. We talked
about washing our hands more often while singing the ABC song twice and using
hand sanitizer to stop the spread of germs.
