We had a great week of learning together!
Here are some of the things we did:
In Math:
- Compared inches, feet, and yards
- Compared centimeters and meters
- Looked at different units
- Practiced adding and subtracting around a shape (perimeter)
In Fundations:
- Practiced au, aw words
- Learned about the words launch and dawn
- Practiced trick words
- Took our Unit 16 test
In Reading:
- Read Aesop's Fables
- Discussed how the morals apply to our own lives and what the morals teach us
In Science:
- Started our unit on insects
- Learned the special characteristics
- Watched an All About Bugs video
- Read about bugs and built our own bug
- Read about butterflies, watched a Brain Pop Jr. video
- Learned about the 4 stages of the complete metamorphosis: egg, larva, pupa, adult
- With our 5th grade buddies we did a scavenger hunt and answered questions about butterflies and moths
In Writing/Social Studies:
- Talked about our assigned famous americans
- Started reading and recording facts for our scripts for the presentation on June 3rd
- Ask your child who they are going to dress up as
Reminders:
- Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary field trip form and payment due June 1st
- Famous American Tea form due May 23rd
