Welcome
to a brand new school year! I am so excited to be starting my seventh
year teaching second grade! We have had a great first week getting to
know each other. We have been going over and practicing important classroom and school routines. We also brainstormed our classroom rules and signed our names to agree to follow them.
I love reading stories and I am so happy that
my students love listening to stories too! Some of the books we read this week were: First Day Jitters, Miss Nelson Is Missing, Chrysanthemum, How I Spent My Summer Vacation and Odd Velvet. Odd
Velvet is one of my favorite books! After reading this story, we had a terrific talk about what it means to treat
other people and not judge them before truly getting to know them. We
also discussed how we are each valuable, special, and unique. We drew
pictures and used different adjectives to describe ourselves. Each
child did a nice job!
Thank you for filling out the important paperwork that went home on Tuesday. If you still have any papers please try to fill out the forms and return them as soon as possible. I know it is a lot, but it is very helpful! Also, I sent home a blog permission slip today, so that I can begin posting fun photos and things from the students. The slip should be returned by Wednesday, Sept. 10th.
I
look forward to meeting many of you at our Open House in a few weeks on September 23rd.
Until then, feel free to enter your email at the right of the blog
for updates from our classroom blog sent directly to your
email.
